New Voting Poll for Members Concerning Member Certificates

There is a new poll to cast your vote on. We are asking all members to participate. It’s in regard to having an AutoTechnician.org Membership Certificate with your name and made printable from the website. Cast your vote here. This request question has come up quite a few times now so we want to know what our core members think before making any decisions. We’ll let the voting poll go on until March 9th before it closes.

Our Thoughts
We are thinking of building a printable self-generated certificate from the website available after test completion and registration. This will incur some additional web development costs to do so, but we feel it’s worth-while if the general consensus says it is important. However if the votes show it is important to do so, we will need to make a PayPal link available to you to help us with the development costs. You would not have to pay for a certificate! A couple of dollars is all we would ask for, and in return, we will make a contributor page with your name and/or shop details with a website link as a token of our appreciation.

To date, there is only one sponsor (thank you ford8and9inchrears.com!) so we are still way in the red as expected. Otherwise, sponsorship would pay for development costs in the future.

Let us know your thoughts and cast your vote today. Thank you!

It may not seem like a big deal now but, as the site grows and becomes more recognized I think it will be important. I also think that we as real technicians need to use every tool available to us not only aid in our business success but to differentiate ourselves from those who make a spurious attempt at making themselves appear to be technicians. Remember that the obstacles are two-fold. Promoting ourselves to success and, keeping ourselves distinguishable from those who give all of us (who hold ourselves to a higher standard) a bad name. Anyone seen the new scan tool commercial for customers? Clearly we’re portrayed as thieves or idiots. This is because while we may look similar, nobody has done enough to seperate true professionals from those who pretend. C’mon technicians, you’ve worked this hard, don’t let up now, vote yes, you just don’t know how far this will take you. This site will have as much power as we give it. Brad

  2. Well said, Brad. Thank you.
