As a Automotive Technician for over 30 years (but whose counting) I look for and support anything that brings professionalism to our industry. Any good Technician is always looking for ways to promote there self worth and abilities. I hope Technicians take several minutes and sign up for AutoTechnician .org. The test you take is real world and demonstrates the skills you use everyday to fix cars.

I am glad to learn of this website and organization. I performed the test passed and joined asap. I would like to see the growth of this site. I found the test to be fair and set for the professional Auto Technician. I feel the public could really gain from this, as to finding a true professional to bring their vehicle to.

This is a great thing that John has set up for Automotive techs who what to stand out as professionals in a field of work that has grown to be as complex as any out there.

I think that you have created a well written test. I was able to pick up on the information provided in the questions, test results, and scan data why a certain answer was the correct answer. The questions hit the mark on determining how a "Good" technician will think first, and not draw a conclusion based on impulse formed by: "What fixed the car the last time I saw this problem". If a technician passes this test, it validates that he or she has the correct approach to diagnosing a vehicle with a logical, time saving strategy. Passing the test also demonstrates that they have acquired a solid understanding of the basics, have developed and follow a proven diagnostic strategy, and rely on verified test results before forming a conclusion regarding the correct root cause of a symptom or failure. Nice Job!

Theres truly a difference in the make-up of a technician who voluntarily submitts him or herself to additional training and testing. These people are actively seeking to be the best at what they do. As a society we tend to associate driven personalities with success and, this should be no exception. From the customers perspective, they have no idea by looking at a technician what his qualifications are. How could they? This can be frustrating to technicians as well when they strive to be at the front of their profession but sadly are grouped together with technicians who merely see the profession as a source of income. I personally spend a significant amount of time on the strategy of how best to differentiate myself and our companies technicians from those who have camouflaged themselves well enough to pass as true technicians. I'm glad to see the emergence of a site dedicated to specifically seperating the true professionals from the masses. Its beneficial to both the professional technician as well as the customer. This idea holds applicability in so many different areas. Who wouldnt want to be able to go to any shop, retail store, etc and know immediately they're getting solid information from a true professional. Thanks, keep up the good work, it's much appreciated and well overdue. Brad Bennett , ASE MASTER, L1, X1,C1
