VW Group has identified about 1.9 billion euros ($2 billion) in savings at its core brand that include reducing variants and trim options in a bid to help offset fines and recalls stemming from the manipulation of vehicle emissions.

VW Group is dealing with a slowdown in new-car orders in the wake of admitting this month that it understated CO2 emissions in about 800,000 vehicles, VW’s top labor representative said.

Assembly of the sixth-generation BMW 7 series began in July 2015 at the automaker’s factory in Dingolfing, southern Germany. Output is expected to peak at more than 70,000 units next year, according to IHS Automotive.
