Through the wonderful world of Twitter, I became aware of this great organization called B.R.A.K.E.S.. Unfortunately, Doug Herbert, the founder of B.R.A.K.E.S. lost two of his sons — Jon, 17 and James, 12 — in a tragic vehicle accident. I’m not a father, but none-the-less I still feel his pain and suffering and think everyone should know about his story and what he’s doing to move on and help other families as a result.
Herbert, trying to make sense of the tragedy, decided to form a non-profit organization that would focus on safe driving. He wanted to help prevent others parents, friends and families from enduring the pain of losing a loved one to an automobile accident. The mission of B.R.A.K.E.S. is to prevent injuries and save lives by training and educating teenage drivers and their parents about the importance of safe and responsible driving.
